i sure hope u are not going to help out the jlcs with funding!!those people have spent enough$$ on worthless things like paying top people 60 grand a year this is a joke thanks!!!!
I have the financial reports available for your viewing. I will speak on this at my Ward Meeting tomorrow.
Hammertime:
YOu need to know that the local housing cluster gave JLCS 91K recently to bail them out. Can you please find out if the city has given the cluster any money for housing please and then is it legal to give this $$ to pay a federal lien? Plus - did you know the RDA also gave them the rest (they owed 138K) to the feds for back withholding taxes. The city staff (berger) sits on the housing cluster board and he voted to give this money. Who authorized him from the city to do so?

Hammerlink at least is looking out for his ward - that doesn't seem to be the case city wide. Watch last nights meeting and get a clue how the city screwed 22 property owners on retaining walls. If it was my ward my alderperson would say too bad you should of had it in the contract you sign. There are many issues that this council is dealing with that were passed over the last few years. One man can make a difference but it takes time to clean up a mess.
This alderman has voted to give slumlords the right to house "relatives" in their properties giving these decapitated houses the right to go without code enforcement. The city does not enforce codes on owner occupied houses. The landlord only needs to state that a relative lives there and the house is dropped from all inspections. Now that rental house next to you will slowly decay and the city has no jurisdiction. Great move!

I find your comments to be interesting. We have a number of situations in the City where parents will leave their homes to children upon moving or death. In other situations children buy homes so that elderly parents can move closer to them. Sometimes, physically disabled children will live next to their parents for comfort. Seeing that many of these people cannot acquire a home mortgage on their own a family member will assist. In these situations these homes are not used as a source of profit. I would gladly like to hear of your list of landlords who are abusing this decision by council. I believe an abuse of this item by a slum-landlord is grounds for removal of one’s renters license.

Question is, how does one prove it. Where is the fail safe? The way I see it is the inspectors have to take the landlords word for it. If Bessie Howard is to start buying house, how will you govern her properties? You made a foolish mistake that will cost this city I love into a bunch of mini slums! Thank you for not thinking this one through! God help us.
Maybe the council should have the mandated the landlords apply for a wavier for family occupancy other than just giving them the right to "just put anyone" in those apartments. That way the landlords could hang themselves and not waste the inspectors time with letters and appointments just to find out there is a family member living there. Sounds wise to me.
Right now it's an open invitation for those claiming to relatives. Better act now before this problem becomes an epidemic.
