With increased rain we have noticed flooding on Silver Creek and at the site of the Locust Street Widening Project. As issues arise please feel free to contact me at (563) 529-4857.
This Saturday we will be holding our July Ward Meeting at the Fairmount Library starting at 9:30am. Everyone is invited to attend and you don’t have to be from the Second Ward.

Shawn,
The flooding issue is not new news. Look at the front of Ambrose on West Locust, 1300 block of East Locust, West River Dr. at the train bridge, to name just a few. Every time we get a down pour, the main streets flood. What can be done?

In relation to Locust in front of Ambrose, we have an infrastructure problem. I am wondering if the holding tank (like what we are doing on Locust and Michigan) will work. We know undersized storm water drainage pipes are also the problem. I will check on this item and when it can appear as a CIP Budget amendment.
In relation to Locust and Michigan, I received a letter from Public Works stating that recent flooding has nothing to do with construction. This is a difficult explanation to buy as storm water pipes and drains are capped in this area at this time. I will also present an update on this item at my ward meeting this Saturday.

I must say the block parties are a lot of fun and everyone has a great time. I have no problem with having another one this fall as long as there is some help with planning and hosting. If you are really interested, give me a ring.
No thanks, I just want to hang out at someone else's house and eat their food. I guess I'll just go down to John Lewis again.
