Horizon

Thank you to all of those who attended last night’s meetings. I want to send a special thanks to the neighbors, new owners of Horizon Homes, Alderman Howard, Frink, Barnhill, Ambrose, Lynn, Meyer and VanFossen for attending. A special thanks goes out to Clayton Lloyd and Bruce Berger from the Community and Economic Development Department.

I will make amendments at today’s Community and Economic Development Committee as discussed at last nights meeting. I welcome anyone interested in this complex to post comments below.

Shawn: What is Davenport One's current interest in Horizon Homes?

I would prefer you not give HH any of our HOME money - we need it for other rehab projects. They are getting low income housing tax credits already. It is another example of wasting HOME funds on projects that have or will cost us money in crime activities.

This topic appeared in today’s Quad City Times. The Davenport Chamber of Commerce, before it evolved into D-One, formed the non-profit group Davenport Horizon Homes which sponsored this complex.

Though Horizon Homes is an independent group, as I understand it, D-One does offer votes of confidence at least once a year. I can request Frank Levy to make this more clear at Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

Though I agree with your perspective on this use of Low-Income Tax Credits I must also be cognoscente of what may happen if we do not take an opportunity to secure these conditions. I will speak on this in more detail at the meeting tomorrow. Ultimately, it shows what little authority a municipal council has.

Where was/is davenpot One when obviously the place was failing? This makes me angry that we spend so much money on those people and get little common sense in return.

What say you?

Horizon appears to be another complex that needs the help of the Nets Officers. Why can't there extra patrols out there like the type we give the sky bridge?

The complex will continue to exist, now Davenport needs to set some ground rules for the new landlords.
