Update

Here is an update on the items we discussed at our September ward meeting.

• A crosswalk is planned and in the works for Fairmount Library. We can expect approval to come before the council in the next cycle.

• Signs will be placed on the corner of Zenith and Garfield warning of a Dead End Road. I am still working on a concrete culvert for the drainage pipe on the Northeast corner.

• The City does not install bumps on city streets of any kind. Gary Stats, City Traffic Engineer, has informed the council that there significant liability with the use of these devices. Gary Stats can be contacted for alternative measures and I will report them here once I receive his memo.

• In a memo from Dan Sherman, Parks and Recreation Director, in relation to the Fejervary Education Building, “At this time it was decided to reject all bids as the needed amount of money would not be available without substantial changes to the department’s CIP schedule.” This is a result of bids coming in over the amount allocated by the council. Changes must either be made in the concept plan to reduce total costs or more funds must be allocated by the council to complete the project.

• For those who may have missed the September 7th meeting to discuss the 49th Street paving project I have mailed letters to homeowners on 49th, Fairmount and Pine with a timetable, my contact information and the project manager’s contact information. If you have any questions in the meantime feel free to call me at (563) 529-4857.
