MPS
Some of you may have noticed that the Mobile Precinct System (MPS) has been activated as a multi-departmental response in the Heatherton Heights area. It is interesting to see that in anticipation of the MPS service needed in the Northwest side of town the new library on Fairmount Street had wiring laid for the MPS during the library’s original construction. The MPS is supported by the Fire Department’s NEO, City Legal, Public Works and the Police Department’s three major divisions.
I have many comments about the necessity for the MPS as well as the planned need for it during the library’s construction. I will speak on them at tonight’s meeting. I welcome your comments here.

Dear Alderman Hamerlinck,
I have been a resident of the second ward for about 10 years. I am a home body person now after a injury. In the last 3 days I have seen a increase of Police patrols in my neighbor hood. I live close to West High School area. I know that other parts of the city might need more patrols but it is nice to see the Men and Women in Blue out there.
We are a big City and we do have problems but after what I have seen in the last three days it has made me feel more secure.
I know crime does not take a day off nor does it take a holiday but knowing that the city Department is out there looking and always watching is a good thing.
If there was one thing I could ask for, I would wish all of the city would have the same kind of inforcement. Maybe the Police Cheif could take a no crime allowed in Davenport thought.
Maybe in your meeting with other Alderman you can find a way to give that same service I am seeing in my neighborhood to others.
I love Davenport, and when you brag about a place you so dearly love you want to let people know they are safe here.
I feel that by having the MPS in the Second Ward is a showing how the City cares about a problem that is getting out of control.
