Thanks

I just wanted to drop a line and say thanks to everyone who showed up to my ward meeting on Saturday. We filled the conference room and had to move into the main library. I want to also thank those who emailed me suggestions after the meeting. I know some people where unable to have their questions answered during the meeting. Send me an email (shawn@hamerlinck.us) or give me a phone call (529-4857) if you still have any questions for me. Thanks again for making it such a great meeting everyone.

Do you realize how few of us in your ward you represent? You make Meyer look sane.

Obviously there are some issues in the 2nd Ward you feel I am not giving enough attention to. Please give me a call at 563-529-4857. I have free time tomorrow morning before the COW to speak with you about your concerns.

I wouldn't count on him calling you.

While I disagree with about 75% of your views, you're plenty sane. We just have different opinions on what's best for Davenport.

There is nothing wrong with having different views. It is important that we are willing to engage in the conversation. Though we disagree on some issues I hope we can leave the City better than we found it.

Alderman Hamerlinck, is the city attempting to get a new owner for the gas station at 46th and Pine? It looks so bad not being mowed yet this summer, and seems to attract all the kids in the neighborhood. Seems like the city should push the owner to sell it to a new owner. Shouldn't be too hard to sell, as they did a good gas business when they were open. Also, how about the boarded up Geifmans/Schnucks store at Kimberly and Division? Is the city pushing to get that property developed? I'll check for an answer here. Thank you.

I have found that the city is taking no role in getting a new owner for the gas station at 46th and Pine. Last I heard we had a new developer for the boarded up building at Geifmans/Schnucks. I will check to see we expect the project to start.

Thanks for getting the answer on the old Geifman's. It's sad that the city isn't pushing to get the gas station problem resolved. It looks bad for all those people who have built the new homes just a few blocks away. They have to drive past that old station several times a day. If Clayton doesn't want to do anything, maybe Tom Hart could do something with it. Thanks again for getting an answer on the boarded Geifman's.
