Concerns

Each afternoon I block off a section of the 2nd Ward on a map and attempt to meet as many residents as possible. Some days go wonderful and I spend well into the evening discussing concerns and changes each homeowner is looking for in the next city council. Other days I am not so lucky and I have noticed that it is possible to have an entire street with no one home.

Over the past ten days I have worked South from the North Side of Ridgeview in the 2nd Ward to 46th Street. Key concerns that I have noticed from the community include street improvements on Northwest Blvd, open potholes in Ridgeview, Speeding in Ridgeview, lack of stop signs in Ridgeview, speeding on Pine, speeding by Truman Elementary School, and a lack of plow movement during snow storms.

I am writing this letter to let everyone know that I have not forgotten about our discussions or your concerns. Each issue that I told you I will work one once elected will be archived on this website until its task is accomplished.

I welcome your emails (shawn@hamerlinck.us) or comments on this website discussing your concerns about the list above or adding to it.

Comments:
Our current city manager is a big concern. He can send our city crews to help his buddies which is fine but why does he ignore problems in his own city? If he could show the same compassion to us then Id believe he was genuine. Maybe when our drainage problems create only one or two problems at a time it doesn't give him enough publicity to care about us. He should start taking care of his own too.

Speaking of care, has anyone driven down 46th Street? Maybe we should try and fix it before winter, or ignore it another five years.
